Adventure Therapy (AT) was a treatment which combined counseling, psychological therapy as well as outdoor professionals and was introduced into Taiwan for more than ten years. In recent years, more and more empirical researches in Taiwan proved the effects for AT. In order to explore the practitioners’ motivation of job involvement and process of development for adventure therapy in Taiwan, qualitative research of in-depth interview and snowball sampling were used. “Motivation of job involvement” and “process of development” were two thematic core concepts. Data were collected from nine adventure therapy practical workers. As a result, the motivation of job involvement was divided into four main concepts:(1) seeing the changes happen, (2) having related to the past experiences, (3) traditional counseling problems and (4) self-expectation. In the process of development, in the past development of AT, two main concepts: (1) coming from experiential education and (2) the dedications of industry-government-academic. Now the situations were two main concepts:(1)the environment problems, and (2) inadequate professions. In the future of development were four main concepts: (1) the development must let more people know, (2) provided a good platform, (3) trans-disciplinary learning and (4) wait for the improvements of environment. In the end, the researchers also provided future research topics and suggestions to make more contributions. |
