The Southern Branch of the National Central Library and National Repository Library: Collected Construction Design Competition Entries The Southern Branch of the National Central Library and National Repository Library Construction Project Design Competition was the largest and most complex library technology and service tender in Taiwan in recent years. The concept for the winning entry from Bioarchitecture Formosana was “Library as a Town.” Covered with a photovoltaic canopy, the library will integrate existing resources and be connected to the town via an existing road. It is hoped that the new library, to be built in Xinying, Tainan, will achieve the diamond grade green building standard. Walking along the library's main walkway, visitors will pass an outdoor study room, library museum, collection center, café, and town auditorium. Together these elements will transform the library into a “living museum”. |
