Dramatic changes in the Taiwan's economic structure in 1980s has produced some intregrated economic impacts on the production and marketing of the agricultural sector. Those impacts urgently demand the sector to take approriate adjustments with respect to changes in resource reallocation, product-marketing organization, policy and institution, as well as production technical change. Rapid increase in the protein consumption in response to the GNP raising has become one of the major factors which make the domestic rice production supplied much more than the food security need. The government has set up strategic programs for transforming farmland used for paddy to other crops. The poultry production has generally been recognized as one of the good potential choices. |
