Vegetation Classification and Mapping of Baguashan Tableland

八卦山台地位於彰化、南投縣交界處，其內設有二水台灣獼猴保護區，也是灰面鵟鷹每年北返的重要夜棲地。本研究調查八卦山台地植物社會組成，藉由設置61個400m2樣區的調查資料，利用群團分析與降趨對應分析分出植群型。研究區內共記錄到維管束植物150科411屬593種，其中41種為台灣特有種，13種為稀有種，另有93種外來入侵植物。植群分為構樹型、相思樹型、香楠型、筆筒樹型、竹林型及草地型等6型。香楠型下細分樟樹－香楠亞型、白－香楠亞型、青剛櫟－香楠亞型及血桐－香楠亞型。香楠型是灰面鵟鷹與台灣獼猴較為偏好棲息之植群型。本研究繪製八卦山台地植群圖以呈現現生植群之分布。八卦山台地人為干擾嚴重，需加強保護，以維護其生物多樣性。 Baguashan Tableland is located between Changhua and Nantou. There are Ershuei FormosanMacaque (Macaca cyclopis) Reserve and temporary night habitat of gray-faced buzzards (Butastur indicus)on northward migration. In order to investigate the vegetation composition, 61 plots, 400 m2 each, were setup and analyzed by cluster analysis and detrended correspondence analysis. Totally 150 families, 441 genera,593 species were recorded, among which 41 are endemic species, 13 are rare species, and 93 are invasivealien species. The vegetation were classified into 6 types and 4 subtypes. They are：(I) Broussonetiapapyrifera type; (II) Acacia confusa type; (III) Machilus zuihoensis type, including Cinnamomum camphora- Machilus zuihoensis subtype, Sapium discolor-Machilus zuihoensis subtype, Cyclobalanopsisglauca- Machilus zuihoensis subtype, and Macaranga tanarius- Machilus zuihoensis subtype;(IV)Cyathea lepifera type;(V) bamboo type; and (VI) grassland type. The Machilus zuihoensis type waspreferred by gray-faced buzzards and Formosan macaques. Vegetation map of this tableland was madefor providing the distribution of existing vegetation. This tableland has been over-exploited.We claimfor its preservation for sake of biodiversity and ecotourism.
