In this study, we reviewed domestic and foreign literatures of forest dust retention service and forest dust retention value, summarized and compiled the method of measuring the amount of dust retention and evaluating the value of dust retention. According to the previous studies, the effi ciency of forest dust retention is very significant, but number of related research is not much. Some of research at home and abroad is to evaluate the amount of forest dust retention and the value in the specifi c area, there is no study to assess amount of forest dust retention and value in Taiwan. Therefore, we take the data from previous researches about forest dust retention and use the forest area of 4th national forest resource survey and forest statistics in 2015, considering with the relationship among tree species, season, location and dust retention, to estimate the total amount of forest dust retention in Taiwan. And then use the results of previous works to evaluate forest dust retention value in Taiwan. By three studies, these results demonstrate that the total amount of dust retention services in Taiwan are respectively 29,412,729.8 t/year; 8,178,223.8 t/year and 2,064,385.8 t/year. By three studies, these results demonstrate that the total value of dust retention services in Taiwan respectively are NT $ 2,550,771,110 NT $ 6,534,400,812, NT $ 1,649,444,225. The possible reason for the difference in the forest dust retention value is that the method of assessing the amount of dust in each unit is different. Resulting in a different tree species, seasons, places and the relationship between the amount of dust to assess the relationship between the amount of dust, resulting in a large gap between the amount of dust retention and retention value. |
