支那文學史的研究與想像──以日治時期謝雪漁漢譯久保天隨《支那文學史》為中心的討論

A Study and Imaginations of the History of Chinese Literature: A Discussion of the Chinese Translation of Kubo Tenzui’s A History of Chinese Literature by Hsueh-Yu Hsieh under Japanese Rule

1907年，台灣文人謝雪漁漢譯久保天隨的《支那文學史》，並連載於《漢文臺灣日日新報》。久保天隨在《支那文學史》中，以西洋文學的研究方法撰寫支那文學史，目的在於建立支那文學的學科知識和學問形象，其中更延伸出對於人種想像與地理想像的言說。透過謝雪漁的譯介，可以看見日治前期自日本本土傳入台灣的支那文學（史）知識，以及文學、文明等概念的生成，包含著以現代文明的觀念進行文學研究的方法在台灣的初現。同時，藉由該譯介亦可了解日治時期台灣人透過閱讀和翻譯，取得殖民者所提供的支那知識之歷史脈絡。 In 1907, the Taiwanese literary scholar Hsueh-Yu Hsieh translated Kubo Tenzui’s A History of Chinese Literature to Chinese version, and it was also serialized in Kanbun Taiwan Nichinichi Shinpo (Chinese Taiwan Daily News). In the book, Kubo Tenzui wrote about the history of Chinese literature with the research methods of western literature. The purpose was to establish the disciplinary knowledge and the scholarly image of Chinese literature, and further extended into discussions on ethnic and geographical imagination. Through Hsieh's translated work A History of Chinese Literature, we can obtain the knowledge of Chinese literature, and the concepts of literature and civilization introduced from Japan to Taiwan in the early Japanese rule; moreover, the concepts containing methods for literary research based on the concept of modern civilization made their first appearance in Taiwan. In addition, through the translation we can see how the Taiwanese received Chinese knowledge from the colonists through reading and written translations during the Japanese Rule.
