This essay explicates temporality in Wang Chuan-Shan's philosophyby three layers of time: time of Heavenly way, time of human way andtime of history. Most prominent is the time of human way which Wangregards as realization of the time of Heavenly way. In addition, this essayexplains how Wang's perception of time embodies a form oftransformative phenomenology of time that emphasizes the relation ofself-cultivation and history. Compared with transformativephenomenology of time in the West, Wang's philosophy advances bygiving primacy to Qi which develops it into Qi's phenomenology of time. |
