長沙東牌樓漢熹平元年覃超人形木牘再探

Reinvestigating the Tan-chao Anthromorphic Wooden Plate from Dong-pai-lo, Chan-sar during Chi-ping First year in Dynasty Dong-Han

本文主論「覃超人形木牘」，即「上中部有一圓孔，似為穿繩懸挂之用」、「可能是先刻為人形，再在正面上部描畫眉、眼、鼻、口、鬍鬚及軀幹」者，為東漢時期「行者擔篋中」，「刻木長尺二寸為人像」繫於身上者，性質為「司察小過」的「司命」神。

This essay focuses on investigating the ''Tan-chao Anthromporphic Wooden Plate'' where there is a hole near the upper central part of the plate, with a seemingly function of rope suspension; alledgedly the human form was first carved, followed by carving the eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth, beard, and the trunk. This human puppet is probably the ''God of Ser-ming (Discipline)'' with a nature of investigating errors, a common practice from Dynasty Don-han where ''a human puppet was carved from a two-inches wooden plate'' so that it can be worn like an accessary.
