This study was an investigation of the engineering properties of selfcompactingconcrete (SCC) containing oxidizing and reducing slag generatedfrom stainless steel making. The stainless steel oxidizing slag (SSOS) wasemployed as fine and coarse aggregates substituting to natural materials withvarious percentages (0%, 50%, and 100%). Meanwhile, the stainless steel reducingslag (SSRS) partially replaces for Portland cement (0%, 10%, 20%,and 30%). As a result, a total of 12 mixtures with a fixed water-binder ratio(w/b = 0.4) were developed in laboratory and its properties in hardened propertiessuch as compressive strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity and surfaceresistivity were experimentally examined. The results indicated that 100%SSOS substitutes to aggregates and 30% SSRS substitutes to Portland cementin SCC, the values of compressive strength, electrical resistivity andthe 91 day ultrasonic pulse velocity are within the good quality concreterequirement. It could save 43% cost of SCC with this substitution. It willcontribute to environmental protection and the resource recycling initiative. |
