The purpose of this paper is to use the finite element analysis softwareANSYS to analyze the mechanical behavior of a bicycle subjected to threedifferent load conditions: (1) the bicycle is under normal load, (2) the riderof the bicycle leans to one side, and (3) the bicycle hits a 10 cm bump athigh speed. First, based on the specifications of the bicycle, Pro/Engineergraphic software is used to build a 3D analysis model and its solid graphic.Next, the 3D analysis model is transferred to the finite element analysissoftware, ANSYS, and a proper mesh representation is constructed.Simultaneously, based on the three different load conditions on the bicycle,the relative load and boundary conditions are established. Finally, the finite element analysis software, ANSYS, is used to calculate themechanical behavior of the bicycle under different load conditions. Basedon the analytical results, important behavioral trends are identified andconclusions drawn. |
