The purpose of this research is to study the stability of the longitudinal dynamics of a joint wing aero plane. To achieve the goal, a nonlinear longitudinal dynamics model is derived. Then the stability of the system is discussed at different equilibrium points by characterizing the eigenvalues of the linear model at each equilibrium point. It is revealed that the system is stable at slow speed motion but the convergence is slow due to eigenvalues close to the virtual axes. Control laws will be developed to improve the system characteristics. |
