The developed Safety Assurance Airbag ANFIS Controller can identify vehicle impact severity, meanwhile, it can provide crash information to the ECU to decide whether the airbag should be triggered or not. According to data from dozens of crashes, the controller can judge whether the crash is 'severe' or not within 10 ms. If it is not a severe crash, the controller can judge whether the crash is a 'moderate' or a 'light' crash within 20-40 ms. The ANFIS controller measures G values from an accelerometer to identify first, if the crash is severe or not. If it is not a severe crash, the ANFIS controller will continuously work to identify if the crash is moderate or light severity, within 40 ms.Finally, two groups of data from more than 200 crashes supplied by the French Autoliv company were tested, as well as data from 4 groups of typical cases. For all crash data, the ANFIS controller can distinguish the severity of a crash quickly enough to be effective in deploying the airbag. Using a DSP experimental board, all results were as expected and as desired. |
