The purpose of this paper is to develop a design procedure for the tool rotating mechanisms of a turret press, including structural synthesis, detailed design, prototype machining, assembly, and testing. Firstly, the atlas of new designs is generated based on the creative mechanism design approach. Furthermore, a detailed design is performed by selecting a qualified design from the atlas. After that, the solid model of the design is drawn to validate the feasibility. Finally, a prototype machine is made, and its testing is conducted. The experimental results show that the proposed design can effectively produce the motion of the tool rotating, and its accuracies meet the design specifications. |
