Museums have been providing audio guides for visitors for a long time, but they are not very popular nowadays. We argue the main reason for the unpopularity is not the outdated technology but the fixed and inflexible contents. This paper combines a review of literature and related cases to discuss existing problems in museumaudio guide. We believe audio guide is still needed in museum practice because it is unlike label text, and still or motion images; audio guide uses voices and sounds to tell a story. If museums can customized and personalized the content and make full use of the advantages of voice acting and performance, these will significantly improve audience's experience visiting the museum. This paper hopes to provide a new thinking direction for future museum audio guide services. |
