In just five years, an overall exhibit update has been completed in three exhibition halls of the Children's Science Center at the National Science and Technology Museum. Although the audience satisfaction surveys and visitor statistics are positive, a more reasonable and rigorous assessment on whether these exhibits have reached the function of education, entertainment and social interaction or not are still needed. This article evaluates the planning and implementation of these functions to obtain basic concepts and principles of children exhibition development. It helps reinforce follow-up exhibitions and related amendments in exhibition planning and development. This is a pilot research on the Children's Science Center evaluation plan. The purpose and method of exhibit evaluation are discussed in accordance with the execution time including front-end, formative, remedial and summative evaluation. Also, it presents the exhibit planning focus and display interface for children from an audience-friendly perspective. It clarifies suitable interactive exhibit designs for kids and family and sets up some evaluation criteria. It will help confirm and execute a method of exhibit evaluation for the next phase. |
