The purpose of this study was to examine the applicability of the Competition State Anxiety Inventory-2 for Children (CSAI - 2C). Participants in this study were elementary school students (N=187,Mage=11.83 ±.42). We used exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis to test the construct validity of CSAI - 2C, and compare the differences between gender and competition experience on CSAI - 2C. The results showed that internal consistency revealed good stability. The factor structure was consistent with the original scale and had good fit index. In addition, there were significant differences between gender and competition experience on global competition state anxiety and self-confidence subscale. Females scored higher in competition state anxiety and lower in the subscale of self-confidence than males. Without competition experience participants scored higher in competition state anxiety and lower in the subscale of self-confidence than with competition experience participants. The study revealed that the Competition State Anxiety Inventory-2 for Children has an appropriate validity and reliability. |
