PurposesThis study mainly examined the relationship between training quality andorganizational learning of nurses in psychiatric hospitals, and analyzed the differences inpersonnel training and organizational learning due to different demographic variables andtraining methods.MethodsNursing staff in psychiatric teaching hospitals in central Taiwan were surveyed.Data were collected by means of structured questionnaires. The questionnaire includedindividuals’ basic information scales, personnel training quality scale, and stafforganizational learning scale. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Scheffe’s post-hoc testswere used to analyze differences in demographic variables, organizational learning, andpersonnel training. Following this, regression analysis was used to infer the effects oforganizational learning on the quality of personnel training.Results1. The degree of satisfaction of nursing staff with the quality of personnel trainingand organizational learning are affected by differences in demographic variables.Nursing supervisors and nurses with master's degrees showed the biggest difference inorganizational learning. 2. The degree of satisfaction of nurses with the quality of personneltraining and organizational learning are affected by differences in training method. Audiovisualteaching methods and external seminars were found to have the greatest influence onthe relationship between quality of personnel training and organizational learning. 3. Thehigher the degree of satisfaction with organizational learning of the nursing staff, the higherwas the degree of their satisfaction with the quality of the hospital training program.ConclusionsEffective training methods can enhance the degree of satisfaction of the staff withthe agency and organization. Health authorities and various hospital teaching and researchunits should strive to include practical needs of clinical practice in systematic professionaltraining, so that the entire continuing education system can be linked to clinical practice, inorder to improve the quality of training. |
