The purpose of this study is to understand the phenomenon of highpercentages of career undecided university students in Taiwan. Iconducted in-depth interviews with 10 students, 4 males and 6 femalesat two private universities. Using narrative analysis methods, I dividedthe interviews into four types: Other-oriented, self-oriented, in-betweenoriented, and motivelessness-oriented. I extracted the themes ofindividual self and self-for-collective from the four. The study alsoincludes bicultural self views from indigenous psychology to discussthe results, and I find the interaction and struggle between two careerdynamics of Taiwan university students perhaps increase thedifficulties and complexity to make career decision. |
