This paper discusses the Kālāma Sutta which the Buddha taught when he meets with different philosophical theories and teachings. The Buddha provided ten points which should be avoided and accepted as ethical choice. The principle of ten avoidance which is used to judge the theories of different teachings. This is to say, one should not accept any teaching credulity. One should make their right ethical judgment based on the right view and right thought of the good and evil action. So that the practice of the ethic should back to its origin, and attain four kinds of stability. The Kālāma Sutta is well practiced in Thailand, Myanmar and other nations, but this sutta is given less attention in Chinese Buddhist community. Therefore the author will focus on this section in the text to explore the content and analyze its insight. |
