Little research has been done on the religious belief among people with disability. Thepurpose of this study was to explore the process of learning Buddhist doctrine of adultswith visual impairment. Five adults with visual impairment were interviewed tounderstand their experience from learning Buddhism doctrine. The experience oflearning Buddhist doctrine could be classified as three phases. In the beginning theydesired to relief themselves from learning the wisdom of Buddhism. Then theypracticed to contemplate of the mind. They also gave up self-persistence throughrepentance. Finally, they done their best to benefit themselves and benefit others. Basedon the continuing openness, adults with visual impairment opened their body space,accepted different aspects of self, and got beyond ego to create a positive life. |
