With the evolvement of lifestyle in modern society, the sleep time of most working women has been delayed. Hence, the quality of sleep has been gradually getting worse. The aim of this study is to discuss the effect of innovative massage program regarding the quality of sleep and quality of life on working women. This study was designed with pre- and post-tests of two groups. Sixty working women were recruited in a SPA center in Taipei. We used randomized controlled trial to assign subjects. Each group included 30 subjects. A 45 minutes innovative massage program was performed once a week and lasted for 4 weeks. We also adopted PSQI scale, SF-36 scale as research tools. Paired t-test and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) were used for data analysis. After 4 weeks innovative massage program, experimental group showed a significant improvement of PSQI and SF-36 (p<0.001) between pre- and post-test. However, the difference between pre- and post-test of control group were not significant (p>0.05) in both PSQI and SF-36. After controlling the pre-test of both groups, the ANCOVA showed that post-tests of experimental group were better than those of control group in both PSQI and SF-36 (p<0.001). In conclusion, 4 weeks innovative massage program can improve the quality of sleep and quality of life on working women. Hence, it is suggested that innovative massage program also may be a useful strategy of health promotion in working women. |
