Dahe jintou (Where the Big River Ends) sees Lee Yung-ping at the peak of hiswriting career after his Haidong qing (Haidong Blues). But several questions arise. Hasthis latest complex novel of the author created a new fictional world, or, is Lee justrepeating his previous motif? No matter it is a repetition or breakthrough, what is thesignificance of such an attempt? This paper aims to re-examine some previous criticalexplanations of Lee’s writings and provide a new interpretation by focusing on theritualistic perspective of the novel. |
