台灣歷史傳說與讀物中的劉永福抗日形象

The Image of Commander Liu Yong-Fu inTaiwanese Historical Legends and ReadingMaterials as a Patriot Fighter againstJapanese Invasion of Taiwan in 1895

後世關於劉永福在台抗日的傳聞，往往呈現一種百家爭鳴、各自表述的狀態。肇因於乙未劉永福在台抗日一事，從一開始即被賦予過多的期許與想像的色彩。本文透過分析以下四類劉永福抗日的歷史傳說與讀物：1.民間流傳的歷史傳說、謠諺 2.文人創作的歷史小說 3.文人編寫的人物傳記 4.教科書編寫的歷史教案。發現劉永福抗日傳說的流傳呈現一種現象，距離「劉永福抗日事件」越近的故事性歷史讀物，往往越不能貼近當時的史實，必須經過一段歲月時間的沉澱，才能夠有相對客觀的描述。反觀口頭性歷史傳說謠諺，往往在事件當下即能凸顯史實的某些面向。劉永福的抗日形象，亦隨著時代的演變，與講述者（書寫者）立場的轉換，而呈現出不同的面貌。

Historical legends of Commander Liu Yongfu’s resistance to Japanese invasion ofTaiwan in 1895 frequently consist of diversified interpretations resulting from excessiveexpectations as well as imaginings being given to the event during its initial stage.This research has discovered via four different types of historical legends and readingmaterials, (1) folklore, ballads, and old sayings, (2) original literary works, (3) literaryworks adapted from historical legends, and (4) history recorded within textbooks, aphenomenon that the closer to the event in terms of time, the farther the literary worksare regarding fidelity. In other words, objective portrayal of the event requires a certainperiod of time. Word-of-mouth materials including folklore, ballads, and sayings, onthe other hand, better highlight some phases of historical events on the instant. In lightof that, Commander Liu Yongfu has been given different images regarding his resistanceof resistance to Japanese invasion following the change of time, and the change ofnarrators’ and/or writers’ standpoints.
