The paper is purported to explore transformation in Taiwan's urban system and connected state interventions during the process of globalisation and associated paradigmatic shift of Taiwan's development with reference to the scaling theory. The major investigations include (1) transition of structural function in the urban system shifting from agricultural development paradigm to industrial one, and (2) the restructuring crisis and governance challenge in Taiwan's recent urban system moving toward postindustrial development paradigm. In addition, the restructuring strategy for national territory of the postindustrial Taiwan is also discussed. |
