This article explores how the aboriginal families respond to the governmental policy in children protection and how the aboriginal families change after using the professional services. The research study reported in this article applies the qualitative method with semi-structural, in-depth interview. Interview data were collected from 5 aboriginal parents. The main findings of the study reveal that aboriginal parents were satisfied with the services they used; they agree the governmental intervention in their families; they had little understanding of the service providers. Also, the aboriginal parents agree that their family relationships improved after using the services. In addition, the five aboriginal parents expressed that they had the autonomy to choose whether they used the services provided; and they expected long-term service program and they can understand why the program was time-limited. Finally, this article provides three discussions and three suggestions to practitioners. |
