Through the history, China usually is regarded as a traditional mainland country. However, the coastline in China is more than 18,000 km, from Yalu River in Jilin Province of north to Beilun port in Guangxi Province of south, and the island’s coastline of China is more than 14,000 km long. China has been opened and contacted the western maritime civilization since they implemented the Reform and Opening-up Policy in 1978, they developed an unique model that complement both land and sea through the cultural learning, adjustment and internalization. This article base on the point of view of marine history, on macro level to discuss the develop progress of China’s marine culture and distinguish three periods: ancient traditional marine, modern marine culture and modern ocean revival to explore connotation and difference between mainland civilization and marine culture, how new age China adapt and response to marine culture and how to effect the pattern and development of China’s marine culture. In here, we except this process and experience of analysis can contribute to new thinking and new directions for research of the marine culture development. |
