博物館的非制式科學教育

Science Education in the Museums

科學教育的實施，可以透過制式（formal）與非制式（informal）等二大類教育體系進行，以求達成科學教育的目標。學校體系裡的制式科學學習，可以經由學校科學課程教學的進行來使學習者獲得科學的知識；學校以外的科學學習，則可利用諸多科學性社會教育資源，在固定情境下，透過結構性的主題安排來學習科學知識（即nonformal education），抑或由學習者本身在生活之中，以非固定的情境下，透過非結構性主題的安排，於生活之中獲得自己所想要學習的科學資訊與知識（即informal education）。若由非制式教育（informal education）與非正式教育（nonformal education）的性質來看，後者可視為前者的一部份，因此可以用「非制式教育」一詞來代表學校以外的教育體制。博物館可依據典藏品的性質，區分成數類，科學性博物館即是其中一種。博物館的科學教育與制式教育所進行的科學教育，除在教學場所不同以外，教學對象、教學方式、評量過程等方面亦有所差異。由於博物館提供許多軟體與硬體的科學學習資源，科學教育工作者與科學學習者可依據不同層次的需求而加以使用。為要妥善且適切地使用此些科學教育資源，博物館與使用者、博物館與各級教育機構、博物館與博物館間，應該彼此建立相輔相成的伙伴關係。由於非制式科學教育實施並不限定擁有固定場所、師資與內容，因此在學校以外的諸多場合，均可以進行不同目的與內容的科學教育。這些學校以外的非制式教育，乃是吾人終身學習的重要管道。若能針對博物館所提供的各類非制式軟體與硬體科學教育資源善加使用，並且透過妥善規劃、設計、實施與執行的非制式科學教學活動，讓學習者習得科學知識，除可滿足個人對於科學知識的好奇與需求以外，並可幫助個人獲得科學資訊。

There are a number of different types of museums based on the types of materials in their collections, and science and technology museums are one of these types. The education gained in a museum and the education gained in school differs in a number of ways other than the most obvious ones --- that they take place in different environments, with different targets, different educational methods and different approaches for evaluation. Museums can offer a great deal of software and hardware materials for studies in science and technology for use at various levels as needed by teachers and students in science education. In order to ensure that these resources are utilized as fully and appropriately as possible, it is necessary to establish the best working relations between the museum and educators, between the museum and students, and between the museum and other museums.
