英文摘要 |
In this open randomized comparative study, thirty-nine patients suffering from osteoarthritis were treated for four weeks with tenoxicam (TLC) 20 mg once daily (20 cases) or a comparative drug piroxicam (PRC) 10 mg twice daily (19 cases). Significant improvement was noted in both groups in terms of decreased joint pain at rest and pain on motion subjectively as well as objectively in terms of decreased joint tenderness and mobility limitation. The global assessment, poor or fair in all patients before treatment, turned out to be good or very good at the end of the study in 60% patients of the TLC group and 53% patients of the PRC group, respectively. One patient in each group developed gastrointestinal upset. One patient in the PRC group developed face angioedema and skin rash which led to withdrawal of therapy. No systemic adverse reactions were observed and the laboratory parameters showed no change. It is concluded that oral TLC 20 mg once daily is effective and safe for the treatment of patients suffering from osteoarthritis. |
