A 25-year-old female has had systemic lupus erythematosus for 5 years. She was admitted at this time due to left abducent nerve palsy, diplopia, and headache. The consciousness deteriorated rapidly within 2 days despite large dose of corticosteroid. She died of central nervous system involvement.The cranial nerve involvement, particularly abducent nerve, in SLE is uncommon and the clinical features, prognosis and treatment will be discussed and reviewed in this report. |
