This study aimed to explore the effects of horticultural activities on the temperament of elementary school students. The subjects were 46 3rd-5th grade school students in Pingtung County who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group members took part in “The Growth of Small Peas Gardening Camp” which was held once a week, each 2 hours, and a total of ten times. The temperament scale for school children was used as the measuring tool, and the descriptive statistic ANCOVA were applied to analyze data. The results showed that there was no significant difference of temperament between the experimental and control subjects due to the gardening activities. The implications for the present study are discussed and suggestions for teachers and further research are also proposed. |
