Art creative thinking is an important stage for art creation. This paper presents a discourse of art creative thinking from the art-based research perspective. This paper develops a theoretical concepts to grasp the art creative thinking in order to put idea and spirituality to practice in the art education field. The author broadens the discussion beyond the boundaries of art-based research, by looking at art education practice that mainly includes the processes of art creative thinking and practice. First, this article analyzes the related viewpoints of art-based research and their implications, including issues on intelligence and spirituality in art. Second, it analyzes the related field of art practice and its features, which include a conceptual framework with three dimensions: (a) thinking in mediums (exploring self and viewpoint), (b) thinking in language (exploring art interpretation), and (c) thinking in context (exploring issues from self related to context of culture). Third and finally, it deals with related viewpoints of art educators and their relationship with students and situations, as well as their implications, including the correspondence and compensation between art creative practice and discourse, as well as the connection between the idea of creation and the image of creation. The present paper regards art creative practice as an inquiry approach into the enhancement of spirituality and life, with an emphasis on exploring self, art, and topic in the creation of the art creative practice. The final suggestions of this paper contribute to enrich our understanding of art creative practice. The dimension of creative practice can adopted to argue and examine the current methodologies and methods used in art education. |
