Can one psychoanalyze a text, especially a psychoanalytic text? In his reading of Beyond the Pleasure Principle, Derrida weaves a psychoanalytic “text-corpus” which involves the question of death drives, the autobiography of Freud and the psychoanalytic movement. The interpretation of such a text-corpus is impossible without a certain alliance between deconstruction and psychoanalysis. In inquiring into the affinity between deconstruction and psychoanalysis, this paper aims to expose, through a reading of “To speculate: on Freud” how the future of psychoanalysis will not separable from that of deconstruction. |
