This article is a study on the manuscript of volumes 71 to 80 of the 'Geng-Chen' version of The Story of the Stone. The copyists' mistakes were analyzed and their identities were proposed. From the way of correction of mistakes the corrector's understanding of the novel was discussed. The inconsistency of certain contents was considered to give some clue to the origin of this version. The date of this version was discussed based on some terms with modem usages. The possibility of the use of a taboo character for Prince Yi was ruled out. |
