WHO International Health Regulations WHO’s International Health Regulations (IHR) are a vital instrument to help the international community prevent and respond to acute public health risks that have the potential to cross borders and threaten people worldwide. The main purpose of the IHR is to implement a public health response that can prevent, avoid and control the spread of diseases across borders while limiting interference with international transport and trade. The IHR also require that state parties investigate, evaluate and report public health risks and emergencies while reacting promptly to these dangers. |
