Surgical attire requirements aim to maintain the cleanliness of the surgical area, and especially limit contamination from skin flora. The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and the Association of Surgical Technologists published the recommendations and standards relating to surgical attire in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Many facets of surgical attire were covered, including, material, design, where and how to don surgical attire, what not to wear, how frequently one should change surgical attire, whether personnel can leave the surgical area with scrubs, and so on. We recommend consulting references and performing more research related to surgical attire in order to strengthen this evidence. |
