The National Cheng Kung University Museum was inaugurated in November 2007 and is the first public university-affiliated museum incorporated into a university's organization in Taiwan. Comprised of the Main Museum, Campus Environment Museum (consisting of exhibits of campus ecology, historic monuments, historical buildings, and memorabilia), and specialist museums in various departments and colleges, the NCKU Museum's operational strategies aim to integrate the existing resources of NCKU's professors and to cultivate student volunteers with both enthusiastic to serve and culturally sophisticated. Based on research, the core concept of the museum is to plan and execute mission-oriented intra and extra -school projects as a solid basis for the collection, exhibition, promotion, and publication of the Museum, as well as for sustainable development. It is hoped that the founding process, core concept, and operation strategy of the NCKU Museum can set a paradigm for establishing other university-level museums in Taiwan. |
