The basic purpose of a library tour is to lead the readers to be fully, clearly aware of the locations of library collections and to familiarize the readers with the uses of library information, as well as the ways to access that information through a very short time but a harvest travel to library. This is a very simple purpose. But you are not going to buy it if I tell you that a library tour also has something to do with “marketing”. Most librarians know that library marketing bears a key role in modern library operations. As a reader, you probably didn’t know that the library had been marketing to you. This article tries to explain some workable principles for library tour services relating to library marketing. Hopefully it can build itself a communicating gateway connected with theories and practices to readers and to library marketing. |
