The Center for Chinese Studies (CCS) held the Academic Seminars for CCS Scholars Worldwide, inviting Prof. Choe Yongchul (崔溶澈) of Korea University’s Department of Chinese Language and Literature to give a talk on May 1. Prof. Choe spoke on “Reception and Interpretation of Dream of the Red Chamber in Korea: Cultural Translation Strategies.” The seminar was moderated by Prof Laihsin Kang (康來新) of National Central University’s Department of Chinese Literature. Prof. Choe, who was a 1998 CCS grant recipient, also presented the library with a copy of volumes 1-3 of Red Chamber Arirang, the academic journal for which he serves as editor-in-chief, to share with Taiwan’s scholarly community. |
