1.Summary

(1) The TB case incidence in Taiwan in 2005-2008 was 16,472 (72.5 per 100,000 population), 15,378 (67.4 per 100,000 population), 14,480 (63.2 per 100,000 population), and 14,265 (62.0 per 100,000 population), respectively. As a whole, the TB incidence decreased. The incidence rates of 2005-2008 and 2007-2008 decreased by 14.5% and 1.9%, respectively. In terms of region, northern region, Kao-ping region, and eastern region showed a decrease in the incidence rates for two consecutive years. In terms of county/city, Keelung City, Lianchiang County, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Nantou County, Chiayi County, Kaohsiung City, Kaohsiung County, and Hualien County, showed a decrease in the incidence rates for two consecutive years.
