1. Tuberculosis case notification in Taiwan for the year of 2006 reached 16,093 (15,378 new cases, 715 recurrence). Among the new cases, the percentage of new smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis cases was 39%, which was close to the percentage in South Korea. While comparing to the 58% (2006) of global smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis cases reported in the 2008 WHO Tuberculosis Annual Report, the percentage was rather low. |
