蔡素芬筆下的城市台北 以《台北車站》為例

The City Taipei of Tsai Suh-fen’s Works --Taking "Taipei Station" as an Example

蔡素芬以長篇小説《鹽田兒女》刻劃原鄉的過往以及生活在原鄉土地上的 人情。並以女性鄉土小説作家在文壇大放光彩，備受矚目。但經過六年的時 間，她筆下經營的不是她兒時記憶的鹽田，也並非她熟悉的鄉土人情，而是她 爲求學及生活選擇遷入的城市台北。《台北車站》以蔡素芬生活於城市台北的 體驗書寫而成，不僅呈現出生活在城市裡的衆生面貌，更凸顯出蔡素芬以一名 異鄉客的眼所觀察的城市台北的模樣，將她心中對城市台北的感受呈現於讀者 眼前。短篇小説集《台北車站》集結九個故事，各自獨立成篇，卻相連建構起 蔡素芬眼中的城市形貌。本文將從空間、時間、人物三方面針對《台北車站》 各篇小説進行整理。首先針對《台北車站》中「台北車站」及「公寓」這兩個 空間，以「切割與連結的出入口」及「客居或定居的家」爲主題探討其意涵， 在《台北車站》裡，她以台北車站與公寓這兩個空間容納著台北居民與異鄉 客，不僅强調兩種身分的切割與聯繫，更呈現出異鄉客自踏入台北車站起，便 急忙切割來自異地的身分，渴望在台北城市買下公寓、組織家庭，尋求在這座 城市的歸屬感的面貌。 接著從小説人物日常生活所呈現的時間意象與時間感，分析蔡素芬對於在 城市生活的人的生活節奏的看法，故事裡的人物在成爲台北居民之後，對時間 斤斤計較，也因城市生活過度講求效率及機械化，導致城市人顯得孤獨及冷 漠，藉此表現台北居民們對城市欲留卻不知如何留的矛盾心理。最後則是透過 人物形象的探析，梳理出在台北居住的異地客或居民的内心狀態，並試圖理出 蔡素芬以城市台北爲題進行書寫的用意與關懷目標，找出她在城市書寫中，如何處理城鄉流動的關係。

Tsai Suh-Fen secures her position as a local female writer in the literary circle by the publication of her Children of the Saltpans， which describes the history and interpersonal relationship in a local rural area. But six years later， moving away from the memory of saltpans and rural areas， the focus of Tsai Suh-Fen’s writing turns to Taipei， the city where she finishes her education and makes a living. The writing of Tsai Suh-Fen’s Taipei Main Station is based on her personal experiences of living in Taipei. The novel demonstrates the everyday living of all walks of life in Taipei， presenting her understandings of the city to the readers through her eyes as a newcomer. The novel contains nine independent short stories that collectively construct a picture of Taipei in Tsai Suh-Fen’s eyes. This study will analyze Tsai Suh-Fen’s Taipei Main Station in terms of time，space，and characters. First of all，this study will discuss the two distinct spaces of “Taipei Main Station” and “apartment”，exploring the meaning of “a pathway that separates as well as connects” and “a house to stay in or dwell in.” Through the two spaces that accommodate Taipei residents and rural immigrants， the novel pinpoints the separation and connection of two identities， presenting the faces of newcomers who haste to discard their original identity at their arrival in Taipei and search for a sense of belonging by buying an apartment or organizing a family in this city. Next， this study will analyze the images of time and discuss Tsai Suh-Fen's perspectives on the tempo of urban life. After becoming Taipei citizens， the characters in the novel carefully calculate about time and appear lonely and indifferent due to the urban atmosphere of efficiency and mechanization. This phenomenon reflects the dilemma of rural immigrants in Taipei: the aspiration to stay along with the perplexity about how to stay. Finally， this study will discuss the characterization and probe into the mentality of Taipei residents and newcomers. Combined with the discussion about space and time， this part will analyze how Tsai Suh-Fen deals with rural immigrants in big cities and its implications.
