Dr. Robert Scholz Centenary Exhibition

The personal book collection and annotated musical scores of Dr. Robert Scholz (1902-1986) were displayed at the NCL from October 1 to 31 to mark the centennial of the Austrian-born music teacher, who made his home in Taiwan from 1969. The musical scores were the first to be donated to the library after moving to its present home, and they constitute an invaluable resource for musicians and music lovers alike. Professor Scholz held a number of illustrious posts during his years in Taiwan. His collection, donated to the NCL by his wife Wu Yi-man (吳漪曼), includes personally annotated musical scores dating back to 1938, a 10-volume set of selected works, manuscripts on the thought of Prof. Scholz, musical recordings, and materials on the professor’s musical theory, biography, literature and lyrics.
