Changhua Launches Interlibrary Loan System

The Changhua County Cultural Bureau began trials on September 17 of a new computer system that will allow readers borrow books from 10 township libraries in the county. The networked libraries are in the towns of Youerlin, Peitou, Hemei, Tianchung, Hsihu, Yungching, Puyan, Pitou, Puhsin and Huatan. With the official launch of the system at the end of 2002, readers with the new cards can conveniently search the collection catalogs and data files of all the networked libraries from any branch. However, readers must still pick up requested books from the branch where they are kept, as no delivery service will be provided. In September 2002, participating libraries began issuing the new cards, which are available to all readers over the age of three years old.
