Librarians from the greater China region, the U.S., and other countries met at the Beijing Library from June 7 to 9 for the First Meeting on Chinese Resource Sharing. Some 62 representatives of 42 organizations with Chinese document collections attended, including Juang Fang-rung (莊芳榮), director of the NCL. Director Juang and Li Min-sung (黎民頌), director of the Chinese University of Hong Kong Library, co-hosted the first seminar of the meeting.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Zhou Heping (周和平), deputy director of the Beijing Library, reminded the delegates that resource sharing could not be achieved overnight and that it would require the continued efforts of participating libraries to formulate specific content of the areas of cooperation. |
