NCL Hosts Exhibition on the September 21 Earthquake

The NCL observed the first anniversary of the earthquake that struck Taiwan on September 21, 1999 by holding a special exhibition entitled, 'Caring Hearts and Feelings of Gratitude: Witnessing the 921 Earthquake in Books and Images.' Held from September 21 to October 18, the exhibition reminded the public to keep alive the lesson of the disaster and to work for the reconstruction of Taiwan. The 124 volumes on display included documentaries of the earthquake and rescue effort, survey reports, books on the reconstruction work, photographic records of the disaster, and earthquake reference material. Reviews and introductions of selected works on the earthquake were published by the NCL in a special September edition of New Books: Recent and Forthcoming Publications in Taiwan, ROC.
