由民族自決權看台灣的主權取得

From National Self-determination to Earned Sovereignty in the Case of Taiwan

我們先將由「台灣地位未定論」談起，接著回顧君臨台灣的所有外來政權，再來否定中國為台灣人的母國，其次思考台灣與美國的定位，終究確認台灣是台灣人的祖國。接下來，我們在介紹民族自決權實踐之際，要指出公投並非、也非必要條件，同時也要說明主權的取得。總結，台灣之所以未要求民族自決，癥結在於囿於中華民國體制，因而在民族認同上走不出自我矛盾與困惑。

We start with the discussion of Taiwan’s international status and then review the alien regimes that have reigned over the island so far. After refuting China as the fatherland of the Taiwanese and pondering over the relations between Taiwan and the United States, we are certain that Taiwan is the motherland of the Taiwanese. We then explore how the right to national self-determination is exercised and how sovereignty is earned. It is found that plebiscite is neither sufficient nor necessary condition. In conclusion, the reason why the Taiwanese have not demanded for exercising their right to self-determination is due to their self-imposed iron cage of the Republic of China and confused national identity.
