In recurrent or persistent ovarian germ cell tumors, there is no standardized approach to the treatment of it. Resection of recurrent disease after long periods of remission is largely accepted to have a similar effect to primary cytoreductive surgery. Further platinum-based combination therapy is the best chance for salvage. Chemotherapy regimens use in literature of recurrent ovarian germ cell tumors vary widely and include the same regimens used in primary therapy and agents active against recurrent testicular germ cell cancers. |
