In order to investigate the sanitantion and safety of- polyvinyl chloride in food containers a total of 98 samples that included 16 polyvinyl chloride lunch boxes, 10 polyvinyl chloride wrape films and 72 polyvinyl chloride bottles of salad oil were examined. All tests followed the official methods for hygienic standard for food utensils, containers and packages. The results indicated that eight samples (8.2%) failed to meet the limit of residue using n-heptane as leaching solution. For the analysis of container materials, six samples (6.1%) failed to meet the limited content for vinyl chloride monomer, and eight samples (8.2%) exceeded the hygienic limit for dibutyltin compound. |
