The purpose of this study was to examine the applicability of the Chinese-translated version of LAPOPECQ (Learning and Performance Orientations in Physical Education Classes Questionnaire). Participants in this study were senior high school students. Two methods were used to test the construct validity of LAPOPECQ: First, using exploratory factor analysis (N=351) and confirmatory factor analysis (N=355) to examine the dimensionality of the questionnaire. Examine the relationships between LAPOPECQ and external criteria. The results showed the similar factor structure between the Chinese version and the original version of LAPOPECQ. Internal consistency also revealed strong stability. In addition, there was a significant gender difference in perceived mastery climate in physical education, females scored higher than males. Perceived mastery climate was a main predictor of psychological needs and positively predict autonomy, competence and relatedness. Perceived performance climate was a significant negative predictor of relatedness. The study revealed that the Chinese version of LAPOPECQ has a good validity and reliability. |
