Facebook brings people together and makes their relationship increasingly closer, but at the same time, it also causes privacy problem when people do their 'sharing' between each other. The purposes of this study are to explore the motivation of junior high school students to use Facebook social network, and examine how these students are aware of network security for the protection of their own privacy and as a result engaged in privacy settings correspondingly. In research methods, this study applied questionnaire survey to collect data on grade 1-3 of junior high school students who use Facebook for empirical study. The major findings are summarized as follows. There is significant and negative relationship between motivation and privacy attitude towards using Facebook. As the motivation of junior high school students to use Facebook social network is stronger, their privacy attitude is looser. Moreover, there is significant and positive relationship between network security cognition and privacy attitude. As the network security cognition of junior high school students is better, their privacy attitude tends to be more rigorous. There is significant and positive relationship between privacy attitude and privacy settings. As the privacy attitude of junior high school students is more rigorous, their privacy settings tend to be more cautious. |
